Instrumented baffle for the Advanced Virgo input mode cleaner end mirror

نویسندگان

چکیده

A novel instrumented baffle surrounding the suspended end mirror in input mode cleaner cavity of Virgo interferometer was installed Spring 2021. Since then, device has been regularly operated experiment, and data collected show good stability. The will operate upcoming O4 observation run, serving as a demonstrator technology designed to instrument baffles front main mirrors time for O5. In this paper, we present detailed description design, including mechanics, front-end electronics, acquisition well optical vacuum compatibility tests, calibration installation procedures, performance results.

Baffle Material Characterization for Advanced LIGO by Cassandra

The transition to Advanced LIGO introduces new sensitivity requirements for the LIGO interferometers. When light scatters away from the main laser beam, then scatters off the beam tube and returns to the main beam, noise is introduced into the phase of the laser. The Auxiliary Optics Support subsystem uses baffles and beam dumps to control this scatter, but the baffle material and shape contrib...

Advanced VIRGO: detector optimization for gravitational waves by inspiralling binaries

An advanced European detector is currently considered. A strong R&D program will be necessary to improve the actual sensitivity of VIRGO and GEO. Naturally such effort must aim to optimize detection, given limited budget and manpower. Among sources, coalescing binaries appear among the most interesting and known. Thus, improvements in signal to noise ratio (S/N) by noise abatement in VIRGO, for...

Inertial control of the mirror suspensions of the VIRGO interferometer for gravitational wave detection

interferometric gravitational wave detectors must be isolated from seismic noise. The VIRGO vibration isolator, called superattenuator, is fully effective at frequencies above 4 Hz. Nevertheless, the residual motion of the mirror at the mechanical resonant frequencies of the system are too large for the interferometer locking system and must be damped. A multidimensional feedback system, using ...

Coherently combined master oscillator fiber power amplifiers for Advanced Virgo.

Stable low-noise high-power lasers are indispensable in advancing the strain sensitivity of interferometric gravitational wave detectors. Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo are currently under commissioning and require about 200 W of single-frequency laser power, while the future detector design may require up to the order of 500 W. In this Letter, we present the design and, to the best of our kn...

Design of the Advanced Virgo non-degenerate recycling cavities

Advanced Virgo is the project to upgrade the interferometric gravitational wave detector Virgo, and it foresees the implementation of power and signal non-degenerate recycling cavities. Such cavities suppress the build-up of high order modes of the resonating sidebands, with some advantage for the commissioning of the detector and the build-up of the gravitational signal. Here we present the ba...
